When deciding how to dispose of your debris, it is difficult to decide whether to rent a dumpster or hire a junk removal service. Rentals are less expensive than local junk removal services and are the better choice when you have a lot to throw away.
Junk removal services charge per pickup. Junk hauler trucks are also typically smaller than even our smallest size. We make sure that you can toss all your waste in your dumpster.

If you plan to place your dumpster in a public right-of-way, you’ll need a permit. If your dumpster fits on your private property—on your driveway, for example—you’re good to go without a permit.
Permits are required for street placements in San Diego. You will have to pay a fee of $75-$120 for a traffic control permit. You are personally responsible for securing your own permit if you need one. However, street placements are not allowed in franchised cities in the San Diego area.
Even with a permit, dumpsters are never able to be placed in front of painted sidewalks (passenger loading or disabled zones), nor in front of adjacent residences or businesses of the permit-holder. For a full list of permit requirements, please see the City of San Diego’s Dumpster Placement Criteria.
We are also happy to help answer any questions you have about dumpster placement or permits!
Not everything can be thrown away when renting a dumpster for disposal. Some prohibited hazardous materials include:
In general, flammable liquids from oil to paint to cleaners are forbidden, as are electronics wastes, certain furniture, and tires (which most landfills do not accept).
Mattresses and box springs are allowed for disposal in high-walled dumpsters such as a 30 or 40 yard. You can learn to break down mattresses yourself here.
SOD can be disposed of in low-walled dumpsters such as a 16 yard dumpster.
When using an inert dumpster, keep in mind that you cannot mix different materials like dirt and concrete together.
Only one material can go in an inert dumpster at a time.
Please contact the local San Diego landfill for their own rules regarding disposal of certain items.
The rental period for the San Diego area is only 7 days (one week). This is determined by the zoning rules/ordinances of San Diego. We strive to be flexible for our clients, yet we cannot disregard local laws.
You do not have to keep your dumpster for the entire rental period. If you are finished with it early, call us and early pickup will be arranged with no extra charge. If you need to keep your rental dumpster longer than the agreed rental period, a minor charge of $15 per extra day will be added on.
There are NO availabilities for Saturday delivery in the San Diego area. This is determined by local zoning rules and the procedures of our drivers. There may also be restrictions on certain weekday deliveries. Check with your local authorities to clarify this before calling to schedule a dumpster delivery.
Yes and no. San Diego Proper ALLOWS for street placement of your dumpster ONLY with the use of a special traffic-control permit. This permit costs between $75-$120 and must be obtained before your rental dumpster can be placed on the street.
If you are in Franchised Cities connected to San Diego, street placement is NOT ALLOWED in any way. This is determined by the zoning rules of the Franchised Cities in question. As much as we want to assist in any way, we cannot ignore local laws in the Franchised Cities of San Diego.
If you have these types of materials, you'll need an inert dumpster specifically designed for heavy materials.
Local rules state that dirt and concrete CANNOT be mixed in your dumpster rental. We only allow either ONE or the OTHER to be placed in the dumpster by themselves. Dirt and concrete mixed together in your dumpster will not be accepted by our driver.
If a delivery or pickup is refused by our drivers for any reason, a trip fee will be added to the final cost of your order.
Our drivers are only allowed to deliver your dumpster the DAY AFTER your residential trash pickup day. Pickups can only be made the DAY BEFORE your residential trash pickup day.
If you need a dumpster, we ask that you provide us notes on when your trash pickup day is during the week. We certainly don’t want to have a dumpster reserved for you that can’t be delivered due to trash day.
Be sure to tell us when your trash days are for your specific location. We can arrange your dumpster delivery/pickup to avoid those days.
