You most likely won’t need a right-of-way permit if you can store your dumpster in your driveway or on your legal property. Most of our smaller dumpsters can fit in standard driveways. However, we cannot place the dumpster on your front lawn.
If you choose to place the dumpster on your driveway, it may not block a sidewalk, alley, or city street. You’ll probably need to apply for a permit if your container encroaches on public property.
For up-to-date information, contact the Village of Arlington Heights at 847-368-5000. The address is 33 S. Arlington Heights Road. Keep in mind, customers are personally responsible for pulling their own permits in Arlington Heights.
Many HOAs have specific rules for dumpster rental and placement.
The Environmental Protection Agency regulates what can go into landfills and by extension, dumpsters. This means that household hazardous waste is not allowed in your roll off bin. Some examples are antifreeze, batteries, electronics, oils, paints, stains, solvents, inks, pool chemicals, fertilizers, large appliances, tires, and SOD.
Some of these items are eligible for recycling through SWANCC. Call 847-724-9205 or visit the SWANCC website to learn more about the recycling program.
