If you are looking to rent a dumpster, you should know that typically, a home or business owner will not need a permit when a rental dumpster is delivered onto their private property. If the dumpster has to be placed in a public right-of-way, then you will need to contact the city to determine if a permit is needed. Your homeowners’ association may also require permission for a rental dumpster on your property, so be sure to check with them before you rent a dumpster and confirm a delivery date.

When you rent a dumpster, you should not overfill it above the top. Any waste above the top rail of the dumpster becomes a hazard during transport. Our operators will secure the waste in the container before departing. If this is not possible due to overfilling, then the dumpster cannot be safely picked up. In this case, some of the material can be removed or the load can be rearranged to bring the top level down below the dumpster wall height. An overfilled dumpster is also at risk for overweight charges. If you have particularly heavy material to dispose of, such as concrete, rock and dirt, or roofing material, call us to arrange for the appropriate size dumpster to avoid any overweight charges.
If your dumpster is going to be delivered onto your driveway, you may be concerned about it damaging the concrete of your driveway. While typically there is no damage to a driveway from a dumpster container, a driveway can get scratched from the steel wheels of the dumpster container. Old driveways may crack, especially if the dumpster will contain a heavy load of debris. To protect your driveway, place a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood where the steel wheels will rest. You can also use 2x6 pieces of lumber along the area of your driveway where the wheels will run. Note that if you’d like your dumpster delivered onto the street instead, you may need permission and a permit from the City of Fort Lauderdale before delivery.
The weight of your rental dumpster container is determined at the landfill. Our trucks drive onto a scale as they enter the landfill. After dumping the load, the truck is weighed again as it exits. The difference in the two weights is the weight of the load. Our standard rental terms include a generous weight allowance. If your load exceeds this amount, you will be charged an overweight fee. Remember that wet waste weighs more than dry debris. If you are discarding particularly heavy material, such as concrete, asphalt shingles, tile, or stone, talk with us to make sure you are getting the appropriate dumpster for heavy material. We may arrange for you to get more than one container to prevent the load from being charged overweight fees. We also offer special handling of heavy debris. Landfills regulate the disposal of hazardous waste such as vehicle tires to protect the environment and the integrity of the landfill. Old tires need special handling at the landfill to ensure that they are disposed of correctly. Please do not toss your used tires in your dumpster without notifying us first. We can dispose of your used tires at a rate of $50 per tire. If you’d prefer to recycle them, Broward County offers recycling of tires with rims less than 25 inches in diameter at their household hazardous Waste facilities in Pompano Beach, Davie, and West Park. These facilities are available for residents only, so bring your ID when you take your tires in.
