Are Junk Removal Services Cheaper Than a Dumpster Rental in Baltimore?

When you’re ready to declutter, you need to figure out how to best get that junk to the nearest landfill.

If you only have a few unwanted items, you might be able to put them in your trash cans. In that case, a junk hauler might be a reasonable option.

A good thing to consider the size of your decluttering project. Are you just clearing off a garage work bench, or are you going to clear out everything, sort through it, and reorganize it?

If you’re taking on a big cleaning job, give us a call to rent a dumpster. If this is your first time renting with us, rest assured you will have regular support throughout your project.

When you are renting a roll off dumpster you don’t have to worry about taking all the junk to the landfill yourself or storing it somewhere while you wait for a pickup from a trash hauler. Just toss it in the dumpster, and we’ll pick it up when you’re ready. Get in touch today so we can help with all your dumpster rental needs.

Is Renting a Roll Off Dumpster in Baltimore Expensive?

Affordable Dumpster Rental is Waiting for You

Dumpster rental prices are based on the size of the dumpster you need, the weight limit, and where you live. Discount Dumpster offers a flat rate for a 14-day rental, and that includes all local taxes and fees.

The flat rate price also includes the cost of gas for transport and the landfill charges. There are no additional fees that are separate from the price we quote you.

If you’re wondering about weight limits of your debris, your rented roll off dumpster is weighed when it reaches the landfill. Once it is dumped, it’s weighed again. The difference is the weight of your trash.

Luckily, you don’t need to guess how much your trash will weigh; our staff is trained to estimate the weight of your debris accurately, so you won’t get stuck paying overage charges. Just be careful not to overload your dumpster, otherwise the driver may not be allowed to pick up your load for road safety reasons.

Does Baltimore Require a Right-of-Way Permit?

Right-of-way permits are rarely required in The City of Baltimore as long as your dumpster can be placed in your driveway or on your property. If you have a larger dumpster delivered that will block public roads, alleys, or sidewalks, you will need to obtain a permit. Also, there are some HOAs that will require a permit regardless of where your dumpster is placed, so check your neighborhood covenants.

For the most up-to-date information, please contact the Department of Transportation, Right-of-Way Permits Section at 410-396-4508. There is an application online you can print out and complete:

These materials are toxic to humans and the environment. For a comprehensive list, please visit the website below:

Baltimore County residents are fortunate to have three facilities where they can take residential trash and recycling services. This phone number works for all three landfills: 410-887-2000. For some types of materials, a refuse disposal authorization is required for free disposal. Without this authorization, the fee is $100 per ton of waste.

  • If you have other questions about hazardous waste, please call Household Hazardous Waste Collection, Northwest Convenience Center at 410-396-4511.
  • The Eastern Sanitary Landfill Solid Waste Management Facility. This facility accepts motor oil and antifreeze, gasoline, mercury products, fluorescent light bulbs (limit 10 per visit), and rechargeable batteries.
  • Central Acceptance Facility is located at 201 West Warren Road, Cockeysville, MD. This facility will take up to 20 gallons of paint, household chemicals, cooking oil, pesticides, motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, products containing mercury, fluorescent light bulbs, and rechargeable batteries.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Happens If I Fill My Dumpster to the Top?

If you fill your dumpster to the top, the driver will not be allowed to pick up your dumpster. Safety rules do not allow the transportation of overfilled dumpsters. There is a fill line located on the inside of your container to help you know when to stop putting items in it.

Where Can I Dispose of Appliances in My County?

For appliances such as washers and dryers, refrigerators, and air conditioners, call one of the Baltimore County drop-off facilities. You can take appliances there at no charge. However, you will have to unload them yourself. If you are unable to unload them, you can request a pickup for these scrap metal items by calling 311. These pickups take place only one day per month.

Why Can’t I Throw Away Mattresses in My Dumpster Rental?

While mattresses are considered bulk items, they aren’t biodegradable, so they shouldn’t go to a landfill. You can check the yellow pages for a junk hauler that will take them to a recycling center. We also have a blog on breaking mattresses down yourself for disposal, if needed.

How Much Does It Cost To Throw Away Tires?

Residents of Baltimore County may return up to four passenger car tires for free at designated drop-off points. The tires must be clean, and the rims must be removed. If you need to dispose of a large number of tires, please call Emanuel Tire Company at 410-947-0660.

Can I Dispose of Landscaping Waste in Baltimore?

This depends. One item of landscaping waste not allowed is SOD (top ground soil with grass attached). SOD is a fairly tricky item to dispose of, and are generally prohibited for disposal in your dumpster rental for the Baltimore area.
