If your roll off dumpster can fit neatly on your own property, you most likely won't need a permit.
If your rental dumpster won’t fit entirely on your private property or driveway, you should contact the Town of Mountain View. Depending on where your dumpster will be placed, you could need a permit. This could occur if the rental dumpster will impede vehicle or pedestrian traffic on a street, alley, or sidewalk.
If you do end up needing a permit, applications cost around $50. However, permits will not be issued for any placement on an arterial street. Also, a mixed-heavy rental cannot be placed in the street.
Hazardous materials are not allowed for disposal in your rental dumpster. Please keep the following out of your dumpster container:
SOD is allowed for disposal in a 20-yard bin or smaller.
